Ex-Gator Greene leads Ragin' Cajuns past FIU in blowout

MIAMI - Orien Greene scored 17 in his return to the Sunshine State and led Louisiana-Lafayette to a 78-58 victory over Florida International on Saturday.

Greene, a Gainesville native who spent two seasons at Florida, also had eight rebounds, four assists and four steals off the bench. It was his first game in the state since transferring from Florida in 2002.

The 6-foot-4 guard sat out the 2002-03 season and had to watch from the sideline during the fall semester of this season under NCAA transfer rules. He has played the past three games, and the Ragin' Cajuns (9-5, 4-1 Sun Belt) are undefeated with Greene.

Considered a top recruit, Greene was largely a disappointment with the Gators. He struggled in the classroom and on the court. He started 30 of 31 games in 2002-03, averaging 5.2 points and 2.8 rebounds.

Carlos Morban had 15 points to pace FIU, which has lost seven in a row.

FAMU 74, N.C. A&T 55: Terrence Woods scored 16 and Michael Harper added 15 for the visiting Rattlers, who handed the Aggies their 18th straight loss. The Aggies and Loyola of Maryland are the only winless teams in Division I.

FLORIDA TECH 59, SAINT LEO 52: Tied at 23 at the break, the visiting Panthers opened the second half with a 7-0 run and held on in their SSC contest. Freshman guard J.J. Turner of Brandon led the Lions with 16 points.

ROLLINS 81, NOVA S.E. 75: Junior forward Chad Dircks led the host Tars with 22 points, including six 3-pointers, and nine rebounds.

GEORGIA ST. 93, STETSON 62: Nate Williams scored 20 and set a school record for the visiting Panthers with seven blocks.

S. CAROLINA ST. 71, B-CC 69: Freshman Brian Mason scored a career-high 25 for the host Bulldogs. Pape Ba led Bethune-Cookman with 19 points.

JACKSONVILLE 88, MERCER 83 (OT): Jarred Stockton scored 18 of his game-high 25 in the second half, including a 3 with 18 seconds left to force overtime for the host Dolphins.
