ST. PETERSBURG - The Devil Rays will launch their winter caravan Saturday with a youth clinic at Tropicana Field and an appearance at the Florida International Museum in downtown St. Petersburg.
Rays players and other team personnel will make more than 20 stops during a nine-day period, including appearances at hospitals, community events and the Florida State Fair.
Participating players include Rocco Baldelli, Dewon Brazelton, Lance Carter, Carl Crawford, Brook Fordyce, Aubrey Huff, Seth McClung, Damian Rolls, Jared Sandberg and Jason Standridge, along with coaches Lee Elia, Tom Foley, Billy Hatcher and Chuck Hernandez.
Manager Lou Piniella will be the featured speaker at chamber of commerce luncheons in Tampa on Tuesday, Pinellas County on Wednesday and Manatee/Sarasota on Thursday. Call the Rays at (727) 825-3137. Highlights:

Jeter raises $217,000Derek Jeter's first celebrity golf tournament turned out to be a good deal for area charities. Jeter's Turn 2 Foundation, which promotes healthy, drug- and alcohol-free lifestyles for youths, said Wednesday it will contribute $217,000 to area programs.
Jeter's father, Charles, said the money would be divided among the Hillsborough Education Foundation scholarship program, the St. Peter Claver Catholic School, and the Phoenix House.
