Brandon Williams will orally commit to Akron today, the Chamberlain receiver said after the team banquet Wednesday. In choosing Akron over Iowa State, Williams opted for the chance to play earlier at a smaller school over the prestige of playing in the Big 12.
"I'm going where I can excel as a receiver, and I think Akron might be the best fit for it," said Williams, the eighth-best prospect in the Tampa Bay area, according to the Times.
Williams visited Akron last weekend and said he was wowed by its new indoor facility, which he called "probably the best in the (Mid-American Conference)."
He will be the second Chamberlain player to commit to Akron this week. Defensive tackle Doug Williams, a Times all-county second-teamer, committed Monday, Brandon Williams said.

Middleton's Stoney Woodson orally committed to South Carolina after a visit last weekend, coach Harry Hubbard said.
"He said he had a good time and everything, and he felt that was the best place for him," Hubbard said.
Woodson, 5 feet 11, 175 pounds with 4.4-speed in the 40, had more than 1,300 all-purpose yards and 15 touchdowns as a quarterback and receiver last season. But his forte is defensive back, where he intercepted three passes and is expected to play.
Jesuit pair commits
Jesuit defensive end/linebacker Matt Daniels (6-2, 220) orally committed to Air Force. He finished this season with 68 tackles and three sacks. Tight end/linebacker Kelby Taylor (6-3, 225) orally committed to Charleston Southern. He had 48 tackles and two sacks and caught five passes.
