NEW YORK - Eric Lindros suffered another concussion Wednesday night and left the Rangers' 2-1 loss to the Capitals.
Lindros, plagued by concussions throughout his career, took a hard hit along the boards from Capitals defenseman Jason Doig in the second.
On his next shift, Lindros took the faceoff and immediately dropped his gloves and stick and went after Doig. After a brief scuffle, Lindros pinned Doig to the ice. Both received fighting majors at 10:53.
Lindros did not return for the third, and the Rangers said he would be re-evaluated today.
"We've spoken to the doctor, (concussion specialist) Karen Johnston in Montreal," Rangers coach and general manager Glen Sather said. "These things are hard to judge. By her over-the-phone diagnosis after talking to our doctors, they don't think it's that severe."
Olaf Kolzig had 32 saves for Washington, which ended a three-game losing streak and won for the first time in seven road games (1-4-1-1).
STARS 5, SENATORS 3: Sergei Zubov scored the tiebreaker from center ice with 3:07 left and host Dallas rallied from two down in the third.
FLYERS 3, PANTHERS 3: Kristian Huselius scored with 8:55 left in the third to tie it for Florida, which had lost seven straight at home against the Flyers. Andreas Lilja and Juraj Kolnik also scored for the Panthers.
Capitals fined $100,000; owner suspended a week
NEW YORK - Capitals owner Ted Leonsis was suspended by the league, a day after he apologized for fighting with a fan.
The 48-year-old Leonsis is to have no contact with his team for one week, the league ruled. Also, the Capitals were fined $100,000.
Commissioner Gary Bettman said Leonsis and the fan have "put this matter behind them."
"I apologize to the Washington Capitals' community for the incident that occurred following our game Sunday against Philadelphia," Leonsis said in a statement.
CANUCKS: Defenseman Martin Grenier was recalled from AHL Manitoba, where rookie forward Jason King was demoted.
OILERS: The team placed center Mike York on injured reserve with a broken finger and recalled forwards Jani Rita and Mike Bishai from AHL Toronto.
RED WINGS: Goalie Dominik Hasek's injured groin has improved and the team expects him to skate in about a week.
