Kansas State streak reaches 28 at home

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Nicole Ohlde had 27 points and 10 rebounds and Laurie Koehn scored 24 to help No. 12 Kansas State beat No. 20 Oklahoma 74-65 Saturday, extending its home winning streak to 28.

The Sooners came back from a six-point deficit in the second half to get within two, before Ohlde and Koehn took over.

Ohlde made a layup and Koehn hit a long 3-pointer as the Wildcats took a 63-54 lead with 4:44 left.

The Sooners never fully recovered and Ohlde scored six points in a minute, handing Oklahoma its fourth consecutive loss.

Kansas State has won nine in a row at home.

Ohlde, who was 11-for-14 from the floor, became the first player in school history to score 2,000 points.

NO. 4 UCONN 82, ST. JOHN'S 49: With star Diana Taurasi on the bench as a precaution, Ann Strother scored a career-high 27 and added 10 rebounds for the host Huskies.

Taurasi had two points when she injured her back after blocking a shot with eight minutes left in the first half.

NO. 8 STANFORD 91, WASHINGTON 67: Nicole Powell had 15 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds and the host Cardinal beat the Cougars for the 38th straight time.

Susan Borchardt added 14 points, making four of Stanford's 15 3-pointers. Bianca McCall scored a career-high 29 for Washington State.

The Cougars' Kate Benz slammed her face to the ground late in the game when someone rolled on her. She left with her hand over her mouth, appearing to have lost a tooth.

NO. 9 LA. TECH 75, UTEP 58: Amisha Carter had 20 points and 21 rebounds for the Raiders. It was the seventh win in a row for Tech and its 91st consecutive regular-season home win against a conference team. Texas-El Paso is the top-ranked defensive team in the WAC.

NO. 11 COLORADO 68, MISSOURI 66: Tera Bjorklund made two free throws in the final seconds and finished with 19 points for the visiting Buffaloes.

With the score tied at 66, Bjorklund was fouled by Christelle N'Garsanet with 4.7 seconds left. Kate Fagan scored 15, Randie Wirt 14 and Veronica Johns-Richardson 10 for the Buffaloes, who improved to 16-1 when at least three players score in double figures.

Missouri missed 18 of 27 shots in the second half.

CHARLOTTE 74, NO. 13 DePAUL 70: Peaches Harris scored 18, going 6-for-6 from the field (5-for-5 on 3-pointers) as host the 49ers got their first win over a ranked opponent since beating No. 6 Alabama 69-67 on Feb. 18, 1997.

Pam Brown came off the bench to score 16, Monica League had 14 and Sakellie Daniels added 10 as Charlotte snapped DePaul's 10-game winning streak.

NO. 16 BAYLOR 67, NO. 25 NEBRASKA 57: Jessika Stratton had 15 points and nine assists, and the host Bears used a late 12-2 run to pull away.

Nebraska got to 65-57 on Kiera Hardy's 3-pointer with 1:41 left, but the Huskers missed three shots in the final minute.

RUTGERS 76, NO. 17 MIAMI 69: Cappie Pondexter scored 25 and the Scarlet Knights handed the Hurricanes their second home loss in four days.

Miami, which lost 59-50 to Notre Dame on Wednesday, fell behind early and rarely led against Rutgers. Down at the half, Miami cut Rutgers' lead to 70-65 on a 3-pointer by Chanivia Broussard with 2:14 left, and appeared to force Shalicia Hurns into a shot clock violation on Rutgers' ensuing possession. However, no whistle was blown, and Rutgers took a 71-65 lead on a free throw by Pondexter with 41 seconds left.

NO. 21 TCU 96, UAB 66: Sandora Irvin scored 27 and had 11 rebounds for the visiting Horned Frogs.

NO. 23 VIRGINIA TECH 75, SYRACUSE 60: Ieva Kublina had 23 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks for the visiting Hokies. The Orangemen trailed 31-24 at halftime and scored just five over nearly eight minutes in the second half.

HOUSTON 62, USF 57: The host Bulls (8-12, 1-7 C-USA) led for much of the first half but gave up a 20-7 run to open the second half. USF, which has lost six of seven, got within 56-51 with 2:39 left when Jessica Dickson made a running jumper, and trailed 59-57 with 19 seconds left. Houston made 3 of 4 free throws to secure the win.

BARRY 61, TAMPA 52: The visiting Spartans (8-12, 2-6 SSC) took their last lead at 48-47 on Vanessa Hubbard's two free throws with 7:41 left. The Bucs went on a 10-0 run and hung on. Shawtavia Mathis led Tampa with 14 points.

ROLLINS 68, ECKERD 54: The host Tritons, led by Jen Rittner's 18 points, dropped to 8-12, 3-5 SSC.

PALM BEACH ATLANTIC 65, CLEARWATER CHRISTIAN 52: Martelle Arnette scored a game-high 18 and had eight rebounds for visiting Clearwater Christian (10-15).
