Gators end Vandy home streak at 13

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Tashia Morehead scored 26 and Florida beat No. 24 Vanderbilt 92-83 Sunday, snapping the Commodores' 13-game home winning streak.

Bernice Mosby's basket gave Florida (15-5, 5-2 SEC) a 67-61 lead with 7:34 left. Vanderbilt (16-4, 4-3) tied it at 70 on two free throws by Carla Thomas with 5:10 left.

The Gators then went on a 10-1 run that was capped by two free throws by Danielle Santos with 2:21 left.

Vanessa Hayden had 22 points and 11 rebounds for Florida, while Mosby had 16 points and Santos 13.

Jenni Benningfield scored 20 for Vanderbilt, while Thomas had 17.

NO. 10 NORTH CAROLINA 66, FSU 60: Camille Little scored a game-high 27 and went 11-for-12 at the line for the host Tar Heels. The Seminoles made all but two of their 24 field goals in the paint and were tied at 56 with 2:26 left. But they produced just one more field goal and missed their last seven shots. La'Tangela Atkinson had 10 for UNC (17-3, 7-2 ACC). Trinetta Moore had 20 for FSU (10-10, 3-6). Her backup, Lauren Bradley, had 12 as the Seminoles lost their fourth straight in the league.

NO. 1 TENNESSEE 68, NO. 22 AUBURN 61 (OT): Shyra Ely converted a three-point play and Ashley Robinson made two free throws late for the Volunteers. Tennessee extended its SEC home winning streak to 51 games. Freshman Sidney Spencer led Tennessee with 14 points. Ely had 13 and Brittany Jackson 12. Le'Coe Willingham and Nicole Louden each had 16 for Auburn. The Tigers have lost 10 consecutive to Tennessee, which scored the last six of regulation to tie it. Tasha Butts forced overtime when she got a rebound and and hit the tying shot as she was falling out of bounds with 2.7 seconds left.

NO. 3 TEXAS 82, NO. 7 TEXAS TECH 73: Stacy Stephens scored 28 and had 12 rebounds for the Longhorns. Tiffany Jackson, starting for just the third time, scored 19, helping to extend the nation's longest home winning streak to 30.

NO. 5 PENN STATE 64, NORTHWESTERN 51: Reicina Russell had 22 points and 16 rebounds for the host Nittany Lions. Penn State has won 10 consecutive and at 9-0, is off to its best start in the Big Ten.

NO. 14 MINNESOTA 59, WISCONSIN 48: Lindsay Whalen had 24 points and nine rebounds for the visiting Gophers. Janel McCarville had 13 rebounds for Minnesota, which outrebounded the Badgers 35-28. Wisconsin's Lello Gebisa had 13 points and 11 rebounds, her fifth double double.

NO. 15 LSU 82, SOUTH CAROLINA 62: Scholanda Hoston and Seimone Augustus each scored 17 for the host Tigers. The Gamecocks are the lone SEC team without a league victory.

IOWA 78, NO. 18 MICHIGAN ST. 67: Jamie Cavey scored 21 and Kristi Faulkner 19 for the visiting Hawkeyes. Jennie Lillis added 14, including 6-for-6 from the line in the last two minutes. Iowa has won five straight.

NO. 19 GEORGIA 71, ALABAMA 68: Janese Hardrick hit the go-ahead jumper with 21.2 seconds left for the host Bulldogs. The victory was coach Andy Landers' 600th of his career. "It is the sum total of a university, an athletic department, an administration, a lot of hours in the gym, a lot of assistants recruiting well and a lot of good players," he said. "I have been fortunate to be at the steering wheel."

NO. 4 UCONN: All-American Diana Taurasi is expected to play against Tennessee Thursday despite a back injury. Taurasi was hit in the back after blocking a shot early in a win over St. John's on Saturday. "I'm feeling all right," she said. "(It's) a little minor injury." Taurasi, last year's player of the year, leads the Huskies in scoring (17.4) and assists (4.4).

NOTES: Dickson scored 25 in 25 minutes Saturday and sparked a late rally. She had 23 in the second half, but the Bulls fell short to Houston, 62-57. This is USF's third consecutive ranked opponent at home. TCU is No. 21 in the AP poll, Houston is No. 25, DePaul was No. 17 on Jan. 18. USF freshman G Rachael Sheats has 52 points in her past three games. USF forward Ezria Parsons had a game-high 12 rebounds vs. Houston, and Gilmore had nine rebounds and nine assists. Irvin is from Fort Lauderdale High and is a niece of former NFL star Michael Irvin. TCU won by 30 Saturday at UAB.
