Report: Pakistani sold arms tech

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - The founder of Pakistan's nuclear weapons program, A.Q. Khan, has signed a detailed confession admitting that over the past 15 years he provided Iran, North Korea and Libya the designs and technology to produce the fuel for nuclear weapons, the New York Times reported, quoting an unnamed senior Pakistani official and three Pakistani journalists who attended a special government briefing Sunday night.
If the Pakistani government account is correct, Khan's admission amounts to one of the most complex and successful efforts to evade international controls to stop nuclear proliferation.
124 Iranian lawmakers resign in protest
More than one-third of the members of Iran's Parliament resigned Sunday in a mass protest against efforts by conservative clerics to fix this month's election.
The practical effect of the resignations, which numbered 124 by the end of the day, was not immediately clear. Legislative rules require resignations to go into effect only after being debated. The Parliament is scheduled to convene this week to discuss the issue.
Israeli raid in Jericho kills al-Aqsa member
JERUSALEM - Israeli tanks and troops made a predawn push into the normally tranquil West Bank town of Jericho on Sunday, killing a Palestinian and arresting five suspects.
Shahdi Milhim, 23, and the suspects were described by Israeli authorities as members of al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade, a group loyal to Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.

BANK CHIEF QUITS: The head of Australia's biggest bank resigned today amid a multimillion-dollar foreign currency scandal that rocked the institution and sent shares plummeting. National Australia Bank chief executive Frank Cicutto said his resignation was "in the best interests of the bank."
NURSING HOME FIRE: Two more people died Sunday of injuries suffered in a Scotland nursing home fire, bringing the death toll to 12, police said. The fire broke out Saturday at Rosepark nursing home south of Glasgow.
