CINCINNATI - Lionel Chalmers scored 20, including a fadeaway jumper with 27 seconds left Tuesday night, leading Xavier to a 71-69 victory over No. 10 Cincinnati. The Musketeers (11-9) pulled off another stunning upset of their crosstown rival by getting big games from their two senior guards.

Chalmers repeatedly drove to the basket and made floating jumpers over the outstretched arms of the Bearcats' brawnier front line. Romain Sato added 18 points and went 9-of-10 from the free-throw line.

Cincinnati (15-3) has lost six of its past eight against Xavier, which usually plays its best against its closest rival. That eight-year stretch includes two upsets when Cincinnati was ranked No. 1.

Chalmers made a 3-pointer that tied it for the third and final time in the second half. Two minutes later, he stepped back from a double team and made an 18-foot jumper for a 70-69 lead with 27 seconds left.

Cincinnati has lost three of five after a 13-0 start.

NO. 13 OKLA. ST. 91, TEXAS A&M 79: John Lucas scored 27 and Tony Allen had 13 of his 21 in the second half for the visiting Cowboys, their sixth straight victory.

The Cowboys shot 69 percent in the second half.

NO. 2 STANFORD: Forward Justin Davis will miss at least three weeks with a bruised bone and partially torn medial collateral ligament in his left knee. Davis, a senior and the leading rebounder for the Cardinal (18-0), will be re-evaluated before the team plays the Oregon schools at the end of the month.

DePAUL 72, TULANE 58: Andre Brown tied a career-high with 24 points and had 12 rebounds for the host Blue Demons.

Nation

ILLINOIS 51, INDIANA 49: Deron Williams had his 12 points in the second half and Nick Smith hit two long jumpers late in the game for the visiting Illini. A.J. Moye had 14 points for IU, which shot 15 percent in the second half and lost its second straight.

PURDUE: Forward Chris Booker was ruled academically ineligible and will miss the rest of his senior season because of grades.

Women

NO. 3 TEXAS 89, MISSOURI 55: Stacy Stephens extended her shooting streak, scoring 20 for the host Longhorns. Stephens, who scored 28 on 10-of-10 shooting in a win Sunday over Texas Tech, hit her first six shots against Missouri. Her first miss came with 2:14 left in the first half, but she got the rebound and hit the putback.

NO. 21 VA. TECH 64, SETON HALL 40: Ieva Kublina scored 23 in 26 minutes for the host Hokies.

FLORIDA: Center Vanessa Hayden was selected by the Wooden Award Committee to the first Midseason All-American Team.

SOUTH FLORIDA: Freshman Jessica Dickson was named C-USA Player of the Week after averaging 30.5 points while helping the Bulls to a 1-1 record last week.
