SPRING HILL- A 36-year-old Brooksville man who authorities say was upset that his former girlfriend had filed a restraining order against him was arrested on Thursday after he fired several shots at the woman near Westside Elementary School. By Thursday evening, authorities had not formally charged Salvatore Libertini of 618 Holly St. in the shooting. Calling the incident an ongoing domestic dispute, Sheriff's Office spokesman Capt.

Alan Arick said the situation had grown serious when 37-year-old Lori Delvecchio of Spring Hill obtained a restraining order on Jan. 29. According to Arick, Libertini learned that Delvecchio was going to be at the school, 5400 Applegate Drive, and he tried to confront her about 4:30 p.m. As Libertini approached Delvecchio, he brandished a gun, Arick said.

When Delvecchio started to run, Libertini fired several rounds, which missed her, the spokesman said. Authorities arrived moments later and found Libertini still at the scene. He dropped the gun and tried to run away, Arick said.

Sheriff's deputies took him into custody and were interviewing him Thursday evening. No injuries were reported.
