Jerry Hill, vice president of circulation at the San Francisco Chronicle, has been named circulation director for the St. Petersburg Times.
Hill, 44, will join the Times on March 1. He replaces Tommie McLeod, who left the paper in August.
An industry veteran with 20 years of experience in newspaper circulation, sales and marketing, Hill spent much of his career in two tough markets: San Francisco and Detroit. Before the Chronicle, he spent 15 years with Gannett Co. as an executive at three newspapers as well as in Gannett corporate positions.
He recently became president of the Newspaper Association of America Circulation Federation.
Marty Petty, executive vice president of the Times, said that Hill "puts readers first, has a track record of building successful and innovative sales strategies that translate into circulation growth, and knows how to identify talent and develop staff."
