NEW ORLEANS - Vytas Tatarunas scored 14 to lead Tulane to its first Conference USA victory of the season - a 70-65 triumph against South Florida on Saturday night.
Marcus Kinzer and Wayne Tinsley each scored 13 for Tulane (8-11, 1-7), which led the entire second half and went 7-of-8 from the free-throw line in the final minute to keep South Florida from a comeback.
Terrence Leather scored 24 on 11-of-16 shooting for South Florida (6-12, 0-7), which trailed 29-27 at the half.
Brian Swift added 17 for the Bulls.
Bradley Mosley contributed 13 for USF.
Both teams had similar success shooting but Tulane had a 44-28 rebounding advantage.
Tulane freshman Dan Fitzgerald was 3-of-4 from the floor for a career-high 10 points.
GEORGETOWN 80, MIAMI 64: Gerald Riley scored 29 of his career-high 37 in the second half, rallying the host Hoyas.
Riley, who last month scored 35 in the Hoyas' overtime win at Miami, scored six during a 17-5 run that opened the second half and gave Georgetown its first lead since 2-0.
Darius Rice scored 14 to lead Miami, which lost its fifth straight and must worry about making the conference tournament.
Next-to-last place Virginia Tech is within a half-game of Miami and the two last place teams fail to qualify for the March trip to New York.
MTSU 54, FIU 53: Mike Dean's free throw with 2.2 seconds lifted the visiting Blue Raiders, extending the Golden Panthers' losing streak to 10.
UCF 73, LIPSCOMB 57: Roberto Morentin scored 20 and had six rebounds as the visiting Golden Knights held the Bisons scoreless for more than eight minutes to start the second half.
Lipscomb trailed 36-30 at halftime, but didn't hit another field goal until a 3-pointer by Russell Hankins with 11:33 left.
COPPIN ST. 66, FAMU 62: Jimmy Boykin scored 16 to help the visiting Eagles overcome a 17-point deficit. Coppin State trailed 47-30 early in the second half, but got back in it when Florida A&M made just one field goal in a nine-minute stretch. The Eagles used a 26-9 run to take a 56-54 lead with about five minutes to play.
Florida A&M had a chance to tie late, but Terrence Woods (20 points) missed a 3-pointer.
BELMONT 57, FAU 54 (2OT): Adam Mark had 21 points and 12 rebounds to lead the host Bruins, who scored the final 10 points of regulation, the last ones on a 3-pointer by Jese Snyder with 56 seconds left, to send it to overtime tied at 48.
Florida Atlantic took a 51-48 lead in the first overtime, but Mark hit a free throw and then scored inside with 10 seconds left to force the second overtime.
In the second OT, Brian Collins converted a three-point play to put the Bruins up 54-51. He added another free throw and Josh Goodwin added two more with five seconds left to make it 57-52.
JACKSONVILLE 79, CAMPBELL 76: David Lee had 22 points and seven rebounds to hand the Camels their 29th consecutive road loss. Nolan McBride added 16 points and seven rebounds for Jacksonville, which forced 17 turnovers.
MORGAN ST. 79, B-CC 64: The host Wildcats, who trailed 35-23 at halftime and failed to mount a serious second-half rally, were led by 15 points each by Markey Picard and reserve Anis Taylor.
STETSON 62, GARDNER-WEBB 48: Borislav Djordjic scored a season-high 32 to lead the host Hatters.
ROLLINS 67, LYNN 58: Junior guard Eric Faber hit four 3-pointers and scored 15 for the host Tars.
TAMPA 74, NOVA SE 63: Guard Mark Borders led all scorers with 33 and the visiting Spartans closed with an 8-0 run.
ECKERD 80, SAINT LEO 54: Steve Berg scored 16 and Anthony Washington added 15 to lead the host Tritons. Scott Seifert led the Lions with 15 points and Richard Blue added 13.
