Lightning coaches, GM near new deals

Published February 9, 2004

It may simply be a matter of dotting the I's and crossing the T's, and it could happen as soon as today.

Whatever the details or timetable, it appears as if Lightning general manager Jay Feaster at least will have the option on his contract picked up for next season, and the coaching staff will be given extensions.

The team declined comment, but it is believed talks were held during the All-Star break and announcements could come quickly.

The contracts of coach John Tortorella, associate coach Craig Ramsay, goaltenders coach Jeff Reese, video/assistant coach Nigel Kirwan and strength and conditioning coach Eric Lawson run out after this season.
