SPRING HILL - A 36-year-old nurse's aide was arrested Monday morning on felony child abuse charges after she was accused of punching a 17-year-old girl in the face.

Nancy C. Vega of Spring Hill was released from Hernando County Jail after posting $5,000 bail, court records indicate.

The alleged abuse occurred Thursday when the girl, whose name is being withheld by authorities because of her age, reported that Vega had tried to pin her against a wall during the dispute.

The teen told authorities that she pushed Vega and pulled her hair as she tried to get away. Vega punched the victim on the left side of her face before the teen escaped, a sheriff's report said.

The teen, who turned 17 last month, suffered a bloody nose and several large bumps and bruises on her face and head, the report said.
