The CSX railroad crossing on Starkey Road, south of Ulmerton Road, opens to motorists today for the first time in three weeks. The crossing had been closed since Jan. 21 while CSX construction crews rebuilt the intersection with new rails and ties, new ballast and concrete rail panels. Pinellas County crews worked in the same area to install new roadbeds and repair drainage and sidewalks. However, several other roads will be temporarily closed for road work, including:
- The railroad crossing on Enterprise Road between McMullen-Booth Road and Philippe Parkway will be closed until March 8 while CSX crews rebuild the crossing. Access to local residences and businesses will not be affected during construction. Westbound through traffic will be detoured along Philippe Parkway to either Sunset Point Road or Main Street (County Road 580). Eastbound through traffic will be detoured along McMullen-Booth Road to Sunset Point Road or Main Street.
- Sunset Point Road will be closed on both sides of U.S. 19 starting today through Saturday.
- NE Coachman Road will be closed on both sides of U.S. 19 from Feb. 18-21.
Neither closure will affect U.S. 19 traffic.
