FSU rescinds scholarship after recruit is arrested

Florida State rescinded the scholarship to Jonathan Warren, a touted defensive back from Madison High, after his arrest on two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior on or in the presence of a minor under 16.

"I met with our athletic director and president and, based on the incident involving Jonathan Warren, we are withdrawing his scholarship indefinitely," FSU coach Bobby Bowden said in a statement.

Warren, 19, and two high school teammates, Antwon D. Fudge, 18, and Michael D. Rowe, 19, were arrested by the Madison County Sheriff's Office about noon on Thursday. All face the same charge, a second-degree felony, which carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.

After spending the night in the Madison County jail, Warren had his bail reduced from $100,000 to $25,000 at his first court appearance Friday morning, posted bond and was released. According to Florida Department of Law Enforcement records, he had no prior criminal record.
