Mischler to preside over Pinellas Mayors Council

By Times Staff Writer
Published February 15, 2004

PINELLAS PARK - Mayor Bill Mischler was selected this month to head the Mayors Council for the coming year. The council is comprised of mayors and council members from Pinellas County's 24 municipalities.

At one point, the council was mainly a social activity, allowing city officials to get together once a month for lunch. More recently, it has become a working body, with members discussing issues relevant to the cities.

A current mission is to decide the cities' position about suggestions made by the Pinellas Assembly on issues ranging from annexation to consolidation of fire services.

Mischler will assume the presidency in April.
