Ainsley's 3s fuel Buccaneers to victory

TAMPA - Seconds before the buzzer sounded, Caitlin Ainsley propelled her 5-foot-4 body in the air at midcourt to score a 3-pointer. Not a bad ending - for the first half.

The second ending was just as sweet for Berkeley Prep (13-11). The Buccaneers won 46-28 against Lakeland Christian (10-14).

With less than two minutes left, Ainsley ran backand forth outside the 3-point line for about 30 seconds before opponents became restless. That's when Ainsley made the 3, giving the Buccaneers a 16-point lead. Ainsley had four 3-pointers for the game and 18 points.

"If I know I can get opponents tired that's what I'll do," Ainsley said. "Being short, I have to count on my 3s."

Lakeland Christian committed 13 fouls in the second half and had zero field goals in the fourth quarter. Berkeley took advantage to hit 8 of 12 free throws in the fourth, five from Whitney Conner.
