LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall coach Glenn Robinson won his 667th game Saturday to set the record for the most wins in Division III.
The 75-52 victory over Muhlenberg improved Robinson's record to 667-234, surpassing former Illinois Wesleyan coach Dennie Bridges.
"Setting this record isn't a coaching milestone, it's one for all the people that have come through here," Robinson said. "I haven't scored a single point. But I was fortunate to become a head coach so young and have been super fortunate to get the players that got us going in the right direction."
Robinson, in his 33rd year at Franklin & Marshall, is 12th among all active NCAA coaches in victories and 25th on the all-time NCAA wins list.
W. VIRGINIA 67, VILLANOVA 60: The host Mountaineers' best defense was their opportunistic offense. The Wildcats' early shot-making struggles didn't hurt, either. Tyrone Sally had 20 points and Kevin Pittsnogle added 18, and West Virginia nearly frittered a 20-point lead. "What helped us was our ability to make shots," West Virginia Coach John Beilein said. "When you're making shots on offense, it allows you to set up your defense."
PURDUE 71, INDIANA 56: Ije Nwankwo had a career-high 17 points and seven rebounds for the host Boilermakers. Nwankwo was 13-of-14 from the free-throw line and put the Hoosiers' post players into foul trouble early. Indiana shot 36 percent.
Purdue's overwhelming advantage at the free-throw line - 24-of-31 while Indiana was 6-for-13 - was the difference.
XAVIER 64, UMASS 44: Justin Cage scored a career-high 12 and the host Musketeers won their fourth consecutive. Xavier held the Minutemen to season lows for points and shooting percentage (27.8).
NOTRE DAME 71, SETON HALL 68: Chris Thomas had 26 points and seven rebounds and Torrian Jones had 13 points, six rebounds and two blocks to lead the host Fighting Irish, who used a 9-2 run that started in the first and stretched into the second to take a lead they never surrendered. The Pirates cut the lead to one twice.
HARVARD 78, YALE 71: Kevin Rogus scored 22 and Matt Stehle added 13 and nine rebounds for the host Crimson. The loss snapped a six-game losing streak for Harvard.
USC 93, ARIZONA STATE 84 (OT): The visiting Trojans squandered a 12-point, second-half lead, but Desmon Farmer picked up the slack. Farmer scored 10 of his 25 in overtime, negating the loss of Errick Craven, who had a season-high 26 before fouling out.
Down by two with 38 seconds left, USC forced overtime when Nick Curtis scored on a putback. OREGON 67, WASH. ST. 62 (OT): Ian Crosswhite scored a career-high 23 for the visiting Ducks. Oregon blew a 19-point second-half lead but made 7 of 8 free throws in the final minute of overtime to win the seventh consecutive in the series.
NORTHWESTERN 65, PENN STATE 52: Jitim Young and Vedran Vukusic scored 17 each for the host Wildcats, winners of three consecutive. Northwestern is 6-5 in the Big Ten, the best mark since 1999.
