Fire severely damages home; no one injured

TARPON SPRINGS - A faulty extension cord started a fire Wednesday morning that severely damaged a home, Tarpon Springs Fire Rescue said.

The fire took more than a half-hour to extinguish, . It occurred about 3:30 a.m. at the home of Kim E. Fuller, 428 Doric Court, authorities said. Firefighters from three municipalities responded, but high winds in the neighborhood caused difficulties, said Tarpon fire Chief Kevin Bowman.. No one was injured.

The American Red Cross was making arrangements for the home's residents to stay elsewhere, Bowman said. He estimated damage at $175,000.
