CLEARWATER - Lloyd Prescott & Churchill, a nationwide executive search and corporate recruiting firm based in Clearwater, has a new owner. Kees Hulstein has joined the firm as chief executive officer and managing partner.
With more than 26 years of multi-industry experience, Hulstein has led companies through acquisitions, divestitures, downsizing, restructuring and globalization.
He previously was vice president of human resources at IMRglobal in Clearwater and worked in senior management positions for Warner Lambert, Avery Dennison. A native of the Netherlands, Hulstein came here nine years ago from New Jersey to take the IMRglobal position. He is married, with three children.
The firm, at 24701 U.S. 19 N, has 20 employees. Hulstein said he plans to expand the organization to its former size of 40-plus executive recruiters, researchers, managers and administrative staff. He also wants to open 21 branch offices in cities around the country.
Sheldon M. Ginsberg and Manuel F. Gordon, founding principals of the Lloyd Prescott Companies, will continue in their management roles and expand their work in the development of an executive search and corporate recruiting franchise network.
Lloyd Prescott & Churchill Inc. has been established for more than a decade and has clients throughout the United States, Canada, Latin America and Europe. It specializes in placing senior and middle management executives and professionals with clients in the fields of insurance, manufacturing, health care, law, biotechnology, medical devices, pharmaceuticals and food.
Engineering firm names division assistant manager
TBE Group, an international consulting, design, engineering and construction management services firm based in Clearwater, has appointed Jeffrey K. Vick assistant national operations manager of its utilities division. He most recently was business unit manager in the company's Dallas office, where he directed its utilities offices in Texas and New Mexico.
Before joining TBE, Vick worked for URS as a project manager in Tampa overseeing work at Tampa International Airport and then as a project manager in Puerto Rico. He also has owned and operated a construction company in St. Petersburg. He has a degree in construction engineering from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, La.
"With his strong background in the construction industry," said TBE vice president John Harter, "Jeff will now have the opportunity to expand the scope of his expertise, developing new clients and markets and standardizing utilities operations for TBE on a national level."

New law firm opens in Tarpon Springs
Tony V. Dennison and Francis M. King have opened the firm of Dennison & King, attorneys and counselors at law, at 210 S Pinellas Ave., Tarpon Springs. The firm will work in the areas of tax defense, white collar defense, corporate law and business and residential real estate. It also will offer general legal services. The lawyers are admitted to practice in the United States Tax Court, before the Internal Revenue Service and in the Federal District Court for the Middle District of Florida. They are admitted to both the Florida and Washington, D.C., bars.
GemStone Securities opens in Clearwater
Dale Twardowski and Peter Carey of Palm Harbor have opened GemStone Securities at 2753 State Road 580, Clearwater. The business will specialize in obtaining capital resources for startup and expanding companies through private placement and other financing resources. The company also is licensed to handle mergers and acquisitions, limited partnerships and tax shelters.
Twardowski has more than 30 years' experience in accounting and business finance. He worked in the securities industry for the past five years and has been the chief financial officer for companies involved in private placements. He provides consulting and individualized company strategies for restructuring debt and increasing cash flow for clients. He is the owner and president of GemStone Equity Advisors, which provides business set-up, accounting, tax preparation and company turnaround.
Carey has more than 23 years' experience in the financial services industry. His background includes underwriting, and risk management. He is an adjunct professor in business and investments.
