Best Bests: Parade

The city of Dunedin's Recreation Division will hold its third annual Mardi Paws Parade from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Pioneer Park, corner of Main Street and Douglas Avenue. The parade will begin at 9 a.m. at Pioneer Park and proceed along Main Street. For information, call Betty Haynes at (727) 298-3296.

MUSICAL: GMT Productions presents Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter's Tea Party at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Tarpon Springs Performing Arts Center, 324 Pine St. Admission is $10 general, $8 for center members and students and $3 for children 12 and under. Your child can also participate in a special tea party for $3. (tickets for the party must be purchased in advance). Call (727) 942-5605.

JAZZ: The Independence Jazz Reunion, a group fusing legendary and contemporary styles, will perform at 8 p.m. tonight in the Tarpon Springs Performing Arts Center, 324 Pine St. Admission is $16 general, $14 for center members and students. Call (727) 942-5605.

THIRD FRIDAY: Enjoy an evening of shopping, dining and entertainment from 6 to 10 p.m. tonight in the downtown Safety Harbor area. The group Classical Fun Music will play romantic songs at 7 p.m. at the Gazebo, and many restaurants nearby welcome you for either a quick snack or a leisurely meal. There will be horse-drawn carriage rides downtown with a free long-stemmed rose for all riders. Also, local artists will be displaying their artwork at participating businesses. Admission is free. ART SHOW: Russian-born Anton Arkhipov, a painter who combines the influence of the classic masters with a whimsical touch, is exhibiting his works at Syd Entel Galleries, 247 Main St., Safety Harbor. Arkhipov has a new collection of original works and limited editions, available for sale. The exhibit ends March 11. Admission is free. For information, call (727) 725-1808.

GREEK FESTIVAL: St. Nicholas Cathedral and Philoptochos will hold a Greek Festival at 11 a.m. today and Saturday and noon Sunday at St. Nicholas Community Center, 348 N Pinellas Ave., Tarpon Springs. There will be Greek food, pastries and dance groups. Admission is $2.

PICNIC IN THE PARK: The public is invited to bring picnic dinners to Largo Central Park and enjoy the new "music in the park" sound system from 6 to 8 p.m. every Friday. Tablecloths, candles and music will be available - you provide the meal.

BREAKFAST MEETING: Paul Godfrey, president and CEO of the Toronto Blue Jays, speaks at the February Dunedin Council of Organizations meeting at 7 a.m. today at the Dunedin Country Club, 1050 Palm Blvd. Breakfast is $7. Come and get the latest news on the Blue Jays. Call (727) 733-3197.
