WELLINGTON - Bloomingdale moved one step closer to its fourth state championship Friday, getting two goals each from Tom Davison and Cody Gilmore in the Bulls' 4-0 victory against Wellington.

Bloomingdale, ranked No. 1 in the country for part of the season and fifth going into Friday's game, will play in the state semifinals on Thursday at Fort Lauderdale's Lockhart Stadium.

"I'm happy to go (to state)," Bulls coach Sam Isajar said. "We were working the whole year to get this, and now we get it. The guys are so excited."

The Bulls (25-2-1), who won their last championship in 1998, started quickly against the Wolverines (17-4-4).

Three minutes into the game, Davison grabbed a loose ball in the penalty box, took a few steps and pushed a shot past Wellington keeper Raul Mejia to give the Bulls a 1-0 lead.

Bloomingdale added its second goal 20 minutes later after Gilmore knocked in a rebound off a shot by Alex Muniz.

"When we gave them opportunities, they capitalized on our mistakes," said Wolverines coach Michael Aronson."That's the mark of a great team."

The Bulls extended their lead to 3-0 midway through the second half on Davison's second goal, which came after the senior midfielder came up with a loose ball following Muniz' unsuccessful penalty shot and knocked it past Mejia.

Bloomingdale's final goal came 90 seconds later after Gilmore followed up a Davison shot that hit the crossbar.

Wellington had several chances in the second half to keep the game close, but was unable to get the ball past Bulls keeper Chris Sedlak, who made several acrobatic saves to preserve the shutout.
