Dr. Paul Farmer hikes up a hillside near Boucan Carre to check on a water project funded by Partners In Health. The project involved capping a spring and pumping the water to a cistern so locals can have a clean water supply. The spring will also supply water to a new hospital Partners In Health is building there. The land has been extensively deforested, but Farmer hopes to promote reforestation by planting trees near the spring. This was one of his first trips into the hills since he broke his leg last year outside his home in Cange.
