TUESDAY: Clear Channel Communications, Federated Department Stores and Home Depot report earnings; the Conference Board releases its monthly survey on consumer confidence.

WEDNESDAY: National Association of Realtors reports on existing home sales for January; Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan appears before the House Budget Committee.

THURSDAY: J.C. Penney Co. reports earnings, may shed light on whether it will sell, spin off or keep its Eckerd Corp. drugstore unit; Commerce Department reports on durable goods orders and new home sales for January.

FRIDAY: Commerce Department issues preliminary report on fourth-quarter gross domestic product.
