Surprise scorer sends Chicago to OT win

CHICAGO - Stephane Robidas picked the right time for his first goal with the Blackhawks.

Robidas, a low-scoring defenseman acquired from the Stars on Nov. 17, scored with 19.5 seconds left in overtime to give the Blackhawks a 3-2 victory over the Blues on Sunday.

He skated into the slot, took a pass from Brett McLean and beat Chris Osgood with a low shot one second after a St. Louis penalty for too many men on the ice expired.

In 253 games, Robidas has 12 goals and 30 assists.

"I don't get a lot of chances to play on the power play," Robidas said. "When you get a chance in a four-on-three late in the game, you want to go out there and prove to yourself and everyone you can do a job.

Robidas made sure he retrieved the winning puck.

"It took me a while," he said. "It was good to get the win and the goal. I just jumped in the play. Brett McLean should get the credit for making a great play; I just shot it on net, and it went in."

McLean passed to Robidas after circling behind the net to cap a wild finish.

Kyle Calder's power-play goal with 1:28 left in regulation got the Blackhawks into overtime.

Mark Bell also scored for the Blackhawks.

Keith Tkachuk had the other Blues goal.

DEVILS 3, FLAMES 1: Patrik Elias scored two, and host New Jersey held Calgary without a shot while killing off a five-minute penalty. Scott Gomez assisted on both goals, giving him 10 in six games for the Devils. Turner Stevenson added an empty-netter with 13.7 seconds left. Flame Chuck Kobasew scored on a power play.

SENATORS 6, PENGUINS 3: Martin Havlat had a hat trick, scoring two late during a four-point day, and visiting Ottawa ran Pittsburgh's winless streak to a club record-tying 18 straight.

The Penguins' league-record home losing streak stretched to 14, three more than any other team.

After the game, the Penguins acquired right wing Landon Wilson from the Coyotes for future considerations.

AVALANCHE 3, WILD 1: Milan Hejduk netted his team-leading 27th goal, and Joe Sakic and Paul Kariya also scored for visiting Colorado, which made the most of a season-low 14 shots.

STARS 4, MIGHTY DUCKS 0: Jere Lehtinen and Pierre Turgeon scored on power plays for host Dallas, and Marty Turco stopped 14 shots for his 18th career shutout.

Late Saturday
