Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen

Summary: Mary (Lindsay Lohan), or Lola, as she likes to be called, has just moved with her single mom and younger twin sisters from Manhattan to a suburban New Jersey town. At her new school, she befriends an unpopular girl, Ella (Alison Pill), because of their mutual obsession with a big-name rock band called Sidarthur. When they learn of the band's breakup and impending farewell concert in Manhattan, they stage a large-scale effort to make it to the concert to meet their idol, the lead singer of the band, Stu Wolff (Adam Garcia). Meanwhile, Lola has to trot carefully around Carla (Megan Fox), her biggest competition for the lead in the school play, who doesn't welcome new blood into her clique and is determined to make Lola's life miserable.
My view/recommendations: If you can't stand the drama queen at your school, then I wouldn't place any bets on you being able to tolerate one onscreen, either. In a way, it is a testament to Lohan's acting, because the drama queen factor is quite believable. I attended this film with a 16-year-old female friend, and we were in complete agreement on this one. The movie just did not entertain us; it was corny and offered nothing that would encourage either of us to recommend it to any of our high school friends. The overall verdict: We were unimpressed. As opposed to Lohan's hit, Freaky Friday, which appealed to the whole of moviegoing audiences, this film is very obviously aimed solely at tweenagers. For them, it will be fun.
