Help for arthritis

The Arthritis Foundation presents "Take Control 2004: Arthritis Diagnosis, Treatment and Management," a day-long educational seminar and luncheon on March 13. Seminar topics include: "Rheumatoid vs. Osteoarthritis - Where's the Difference?", "Biologic Agents and Your Immune System", "The Other Forms of Arthritis", "The Face of Arthritis" and much more. The seminar will be at the Safety Harbor Resort and Spa, 105 N Bayshore Drive, Safety Harbor. Contact the Arthritis Foundation toll free at 1-800-850-9455 for registration information. Ticket prices are $25 per person (includes a buffet lunch) with discounts for Arthritis Foundation members.

Help for caregivers

Sylvia Gaddis, Care Manager, Area Agency on Aging Caregiver's REST Program plans a six-week caregivers series. If you are caring for a parent or spouse, this series offers important information. The first session is noon-1 p.m. today at the Sunshine Center Conference Room (2nd floor), 330 Fifth St. N, St. Petersburg. Bring a brown bag lunch; cookies and punch provided. There will be a Computer Expo and Conference for Older Adults 9 a.m.-3 p.m. March 16 at the Sunshine Multipurpose Senior Center, 330 Fifth St. N in St. Petersburg. Help for your pet

Spay and neutering surgeries will be provided free this month (that leaves you just five days) to the pets of people with limited income. Pet owners must apply in person 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesdays-Fridays at the SPCA, 9099 130th Ave. N, Largo; or 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesdays at the St. Petersburg Free Clinic, 863 Third Ave. N. Test your memory

The University of South Florida Suncoast Gerontology Center will be offering free memory screening March 1-5 in private rooms. The screening takes about 30 minutes. The Center is located near the USF Tampa campus. Results are confidential and given at the time of the screening. Appointments are required.
