CLEARWATER - A burglar made off with a few thousand dollars in coins and equipment from the library at the St. Petersburg College, Clearwater campus Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, police said.

There was no forced entry, though it's unclear if the burglar had a key or hid in the library when it closed for the night, Clearwater police Sgt. Doug Griffith said. Workers at the library at 2465 Drew St. discovered the burglary when they opened Wednesday. The burglar took a computer, some electronic equipment and the coin machines on the copiers, Griffith said.

He estimated the loss at between $3,000 and $4,000.
