Goodwill seeks donors to pass on a love of reading

By Times Staff Writer

Goodwill Industries is collecting children's books in Pinellas, Pasco and Hillsborough counties for a special program designed to help kids learn to love reading.

In this "BookWorks" program, volunteers will read stories to children ages 2 through 5 "whose home environment may not include books and reading." After storytime, each child will receive a book to take home. That's why Goodwill is seeking new or "gently used" children's books. The organization also is seeking volunteers.

To learn about locations for book donations, call 1-888-279-1988, or go to www.goodwill-suncoast.org and click on "Stores" or "Donations." To become a volunteer BookWorks reader, call the same number and dial Extension 223.
