REDINGTON SHORES - After rejecting three previous applicants for the new town administrator position, commissioners this week will interview four new applicants.
The position was created last year and may evolve into a city manager, a move requiring voter approval of a charter change.
Initially, the administrator would be responsible for directing and supervising all town departments, recommending personnel changes, coordinating town board meetings, long-range planning, community and media relations, and working directly with the commission. The commission retains staff hiring and firing.
The new finalists are:
Ann K. Capela, 50, a consultant from Durango, Colo. She most recently was executive officer for Imperial County, Calif., and previously served as county administrative coordinator in Walworth County, Wis., and county coordinator for Livingston County, Ill.
Douglas L. Lewis, 39, of North Port, Fla., works for the Innovation Group, a non-profit government consulting firm. He previously was assistant city manager-director of support services for North Port and assistant city manager-public information officer-deputy clerk for Huber Heights, Ohio.
Donald Lusk, 58, lives in Chattanooga, Tenn. From 2000 to 2003 he served as village administrator in Angel Fire, N.M., and previously served as city manager in Holly Hill and Wilton Manors, Fla., as well as East Ridge and Spring City in Tennessee. He also served as Collier County (Fla.) manager.
David L. Recor, 36, is chief of community planning for Fairfax, Va. He previously served as deputy planning director in Hilton Head, S.C., as director of administrative services for DeSoto County in Florida.
The commission plans to select one of the applicants - or reject them all - at its March 10 meeting at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.
