BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Mo Finley scored 20 as UAB overcame a slow start to defeat Marquette 87-69 Saturday. Sidney Ball added 12 and Donnell Taylor had 10 for the Blazers.
Travis Diener scored 17 to lead Marquette. Scott Merritt had 12 and Terry Sanders 10 for the Golden Eagles.
UAB celebrated the program's 25th anniversary, introducing former players, coaches, managers and trainers at halftime.
But it looked early like Marquette would be the team celebrating. Diener, who leads the league in scoring and assists, hit two 3-pointers to help the Golden Eagles take a 14-2 lead.
But the Blazers went on an 18-6 run to tie at 20 with 4:38 left in the first. UAB led 34-28 at the half.
DePAUL 80, S. MISS 51: Andre Brown tied a career high with 24 points and Delonte Holland had 18 for the host Blue Demons. Sammy Mejia had 11 points and 11 assists for DePaul, which won for the 10th time in 12. Tied at 18, DePaul closed the first half by outscoring Southern Miss 13-4. Holland hit a jumper as time expired, giving the Blue Demons a 31-22 lead. Charles Gaines scored 24 for Marquette.
SAINT LOUIS 76, TULANE 65: Josh Fisher scored 23 and Reggie Bryant 20, nine from the line, for the visiting Billikens.
