BRANDON - A 36-year-old Brandon woman was rushed to Tampa General Hospital on Monday morning for surgery on her legs after she stepped into the path of an oncoming CSX freight train, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Tracy Wilson, who lives in the Woodbury Woods Apartments on Tealwood Drive, stepped onto the tracks west of Grand Regency Boulevard south of Tealwood about 6 a.m., according to a sheriff's report.

The train hit both of Wilson's legs below the knee. She crawled about 80 yards, around a fence and through a parking lot, where she was discovered. She was in critical condition Monday, according to officials at Tampa General.
