TAMPA - A former Florida Metropolitan University student sued the school Monday, claiming she took out $37,000 in loans to finance her education there only to learn she couldn't transfer her credits to another school.

Adrienne L. Travis sued FMU, one of Florida's largest private universities, and its parent companies Rhodes Colleges Inc. and Corinthian Colleges Inc., of Santa Ana, Calif. The suit seeks unspecified damages of more than $15,000. Officials at FMU's Brandon campus did not return a telephone call for comment Monday.
