WHO'S HOT: Illinois. The Fighting Illini have roared back to the top of the Big Ten standings by winning nine in a row and play today at Ohio State.

WHO'S NOT: South Carolina. The Gamecocks have lost six of their past eight and have slid dangerously close to the "bubble" entering the SEC tournament.

ON THE BUBBLE: Virginia. A few weeks ago, the Cavaliers needed another couple of wins just to qualify for the NIT. But they've won four of five, including against Georgia Tech, North Carolina and Wake Forest, making today's game at Maryland as important for them as it is for the Terrapins.
