If you like to dance to Top 40 music, Saturday's Concert in the Park at Floral Park will be the place to put on your boogie shoes.
Strutt, a local bar band, will step out in the sunshine at the pavilion at Floral Park and play a long set of nothing but Top 40 dance music.
"That's songs by Journey, Cher, the new Pink, No Doubt, Pat Benatar and Melissa Etheridge," said Allen Banez, the group's bassist.
He said the four-member group will play a two-hour set of top dance favorites during the outdoor concert. Other members of Strutt include Tamera Sure, singer; Anthony Ziljanie, drums; and Chris Charvallie, guitar.
Strutt is a frequent fixture at area classic rock and dance bars. Banez said the group's repertoire of about 150 songs enables it to present an ever-shifting song list to audiences.
"When we get burned out on the classic rock songs, we can switch over to Top 40 dance and still party," Banez said.
The concert is an added feature to a car and motorcycle show sponsored by area Shriners from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the park.
Saturday's concert will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Floral Park is on U.S. 41, about 1.5 miles south of the Orange Avenue traffic signal.
The series, sponsored by Citrus Parks and Recreation, started in November 2003 and has enjoyed moderate attendance.
The music shifts to classic jazz for the next concert.
The Citrus Jazz Society will have its monthly jam session at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Hampton Room at Citrus Hills Golf Club, formerly Andre's Restaurant.
Jazz jam organizer Ken Lattin said the group plays lots of the jazz classics, with a Dixieland flair.
"Songs such as Satin Doll come up regularly," Lattin said.
The 300-member Jazz Society has plenty of good players to choose from, Lattin said. Musicians from jazz clubs in Hernando and Marion counties also regularly show up. A $5 donation for the scholarship fund is requested at the door.
