SEMINOLE - Pinellas County sheriff's deputies arrested a 45-year-old Tampa man Friday in connection with a Seminole bank robbery.

Deputies say Donald Davis entered the Wachovia Bank at 8800 Park Blvd. at 4:24 p.m., placed a box on the counter and handed a note to a teller demanding money and claiming a bomb was in the box.

A teller handed the man an undisclosed amount of money and he left the bank, said Sheriff's Office spokesman Mac McMullen.

Employees and customers evacuated the building. Witnesses said Davis had gotten out of a white Ford van with a for sale sign in the back window. He was arrested a short time later at 90th Ave. N and Starkey Road, McMullen said.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad was called to investigate the box but found no bomb.
