CONSTRUCTION
Ajax Building Corp., 5625 W Waters Ave., Suite E, Tampa, announced this contract: Hernando County Schools, for construction management services, 238,000 square feet, a facility that houses two schools under one roof on 38 acres, Powell Road, Spring Hill, $27.3-million.
Creative Contractors, 620 Drew St., Clearwater, announced this contract: Desoto Memorial Hospital, 7,020 square feet, single-story rehabilitation center, 900 N Robert Ave., Arcadia, $1-million.
Turner Construction Co., Tampa, won the 2004 Horizon Award given by the Associated General Contractors of Greater Florida. The award, for best building, best new construction in the $15-million-to-$30-million category, was for the Clearwater Main Library project. Robert A.M. Stern, dean of the Yale School of Architecture, in association with Harvard Jolly Clees Toppe Architects of St. Petersburg, designed the 90,000-square-foot, $20.2-million library that features a local history center, larger children's and teen rooms, a technology center, gallery spaces, meeting rooms, a rooftop terrace and a cafe.
