GAINESVILLE - Stephen Barton had three hits and drove in four runs to help Florida beat Brown 14-1 Sunday and tie a school record with 14 consecutive victories.

The Gators swept the three-game series and matched their longest win streak set in 2001.

Ben Harrison and Brian Jeroloman added two RBIs each for Florida (18-3), which can break the school record Wednesday against Army.

The Gators led 10-1 after two innings, scoring three in the first and seven in the second. Chris Contrino had the lone RBI for Brown (0-3). Starter James Cramphin allowed 13 runs on 11 hits and six walks in five innings.

FSU 4, MICHIGAN ST. 0: Mark Sauls and two relievers combined on a five-hitter to lift the host Seminoles (16-5). The 'Noles swept the three-game series, won their fifth in a row and 14th in the past 16 games. Oliver Wolcott and Travis Gulick had two hits each to lead Michigan State (4-7).

MIAMI 6, RUTGERS 5: Paco Figueroa's run-scoring single off the foot of pitcher Steve Holt in the 10th lifted the host Hurricanes (15-3), who swept the Scarlet Knights (4-8) and won their 11th straight.

TAMPA 4, SAINT LEO 2: Senior left-hander Joey Watts of Brandon and junior right-hander Justin Boza of Tampa combined on a two-hitter for the visiting Spartans, ranked No. 1 in Division II. Senior shortstop Derrick McNeil of Land O'Lakes had a two-run homer in the fifth for Saint Leo (14-10).

USF 7, UMASS 5: A triple by sophomore Matt McHargue in the bottom of fifth broke a 3-all tie, giving the Bulls (13-5) the lead for good and a sweep of the Minutemen (2-3).

DIVING: Florida State's Tiffany Manning (416.50) won the tower event and Taryn Ignacio (407.10) was second in the NCAA Zone B Championships in Athens, Ga. Both qualified for this week's NCAA Championships at Texas A&M. Junior Zach Wilcox finished eighth on the platform to lead Florida, but did not qualify for the men's championships in East Meadow, N.Y.

FOOTBALL: North Carolina State linebacker Freddie Aughtry-Lindsay was wounded in a drive-by shooting, but did not have life-threatening injuries, Greensboro police said. Aughtry-Lindsay, 21, was shot in the right forearm, then was treated and released from a hospital, assistant athletic director Annabelle Vaughan said. Aughtry-Lindsay, a 6-foot-1, 224-pound junior, was the top tackler on the Wolfpack's special teams in 2002 and was N.C. State's fifth-leading tackler that season with 86.

GOLF: Florida senior Camilo Villegas tied a school record for career victories, winning his seventh tournament at the Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas. The Gators finished second (14-under 850), two shots behind Arizona State. Villegas (11-under 205) beat Wake Forest's Bill Haas by a stroke. Chris DiMarco also had seven wins as a Gator.

SKIING: New Mexico won the NCAA championship in the Sierra Nevada for the school's first NCAA title in any sport. The Lobos ended the four-day competition with 623 points, followed by defending champion Utah at 581.

SOFTBALL: Senior Jessica van der Linden held Michigan (17-6) to two hits as the Seminoles won 1-0 in the Florida State Invitational Tournament. Freshman Veronica Wootson stole home with the bases loaded in the sixth inning for FSU (29-3), which had not won its signature tournament since 1998.

In Louisville, Ky., South Florida (27-7) avoided a series sweep by the Cardinals (16-7), winning 8-3. Leigh Ann Ellis pitched a complete game, giving up five hits for the Bulls, who led 7-0 after two innings.

In Miami Shores, Barry (18-12) split a doubleheader with Tampa (15-3), winning the opener 2-1, then falling 4-2. In Game 1, Kathleen McNamara scored the winning run in the seventh for the Bucs. In Game 2, the Spartans led 4-0 through five innings.
