Bruins paint Maple Leafs Green with envy

TORONTO - Travis Green thoroughly enjoyed beating his former team.

Green, waived by the Maple Leafs in October, scored twice as the Bruins clinched a playoff spot with a 2-1 victory over Toronto on Tuesday night.

"I'd be lying if I said it doesn't feel good to come back and get the win," Green said.

Green, who scored the go-ahead goal with 7:29 left in the third, said he felt betrayed by the Maple Leafs.

"I thought I'd given this team a lot during the two years I was here," Green said.

Green had two power-play goals for the Bruins, who have won four straight.

Boston, unbeaten in six games (5-0-1), moved three points ahead of Toronto for first in the Northeast Division. The Bruins joined Tampa Bay and Philadelphia in clinching playoff berths in the Eastern Conference.

FLAMES 4, RED WINGS 1: Miikka Kiprusoff had 25 saves and visiting Calgary got goals from four players in stretching its unbeaten streak to six games.

Detroit had its 7-0-1 unbeaten streak snapped. The Red Wings lead Colorado by three points for the top seed in the West and remained one ahead of the Lightning in the race for the Presidents' Trophy, awarded to the team with the most regular-season points.

Red Wings defenseman Derian Hatcher left after hurting his shoulder early in the third. It was his fifth game after he missed 64 with a knee injury.

PENGUINS 4, CAPITALS 1: Landon Wilson had two power-play goals and Matt Hussey scored in his first NHL game to help host Pittsburgh push its unbeaten streak to 5-0-1. Hussey was an emergency recall from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton earlier in the day after Aleksey Morozov developed a sore back. Hussey fired a backhander past Olaf Kolzig on his first shot at 8:07 of the second to put Pittsburgh ahead 3-0.

CANADIENS 4, AVALANCHE 2: Saku Koivu had a power-play goal 4:18 into the third and Jose Theodore had 29 saves to lead host Montreal. Koivu, who assisted on Yanic Perreault's first-period goal to extend his point streak to six games, broke a tie at 2 with a backhander past goaltender David Aebischer. Montreal ended an eight-game winless streak (0-6-2) against Colorado.

WILD 5, SENATORS 2: Marian Gaborik had three goals and two assists and Dwayne Roloson had 36 saves for host Minnesota. The Wild's usually anemic power play - second-worst in the league coming in at 12.5 percent - made Ottawa pay for two early penalties. Minnesota connected twice one minute apart to take a 2-0 lead in the first.

OILERS 3, BLUE JACKETS 2: Ethan Moreau scored the winner with 5:23 left for host Edmonton. After Steve Staios was stopped on a breakaway, Moreau gathered the rebound and beat Marc Denis for his 18th goal.

SHARKS 3, STARS 3: Jonathan Cheechoo scored twice in the final 1:37 of regulation, including the tying goal with 34 seconds left, as visiting San Jose rallied from a three-goal deficit in the third.

DUCKS 3, PHOENIX 2 (OT): Sergei Fedorov scored 29 seconds into overtime for visiting Anaheim, which extended Phoenix's winless streak to 13 games. Phoenix's Daymond Langkow tied it at 2 at 16:25 of the second.

CANUCKS 2, PREDATORS 2: Adam Hall scored with 19.1 seconds left in regulation for visiting Nashville. Predators goalie Tomas Vokoun had 25 saves, including a breakaway stop on Martin Rucinsky with five seconds left in OT.

BLACKHAWKS: Defenseman Johnathan Aitken was assigned to AHL Norfolk.

BLUES: Defenseman Chris Pronger was suspended for one game for kicking at Flames forward Ville Nieminen during a game. No penalty was assessed during the game Sunday, which Calgary won 3-0.

CAPITALS: Goalie Maxime Ouellet and right wing Boyd Gordon were recalled from AHL Portland.

DEVILS: Defenseman Brian Rafalski likely will miss the final 10 games of the regular season with a broken right leg. Also, general manager Lou Lamoriello said captain Scott Stevens, recovering from a concussion, could be available for the playoffs.

PENGUINS: With attendance sagging to 20-year lows, the team is cutting ticket prices. Team president Ken Sawyer said the team would reduce ticket prices across the board for 2004-05. In its first 36 home games, Pittsburgh drew 424,486 fans, an average of 11,791 or 69.6 percent of Mellon Arena's capacity.

SABRES: Alexei Zhitnik is out for the rest of the regular season with a non-displaced fracture in his right shoulder. Also, captain Chris Drury will miss at least a week with a concussion sustained in Monday's 6-5 overtime loss to Toronto.

BERTUZZI INCIDENT: The criminal investigation into Todd Bertuzzi's attack on Avalanche center Steve Moore will take at least four more weeks, Vancouver police said. Bertuzzi, a two-time All-Star forward for the Canucks, faces a possible assault charge for an on-ice attack on March 8 that left Moore with a broken neck and concussion.
