TAMPA - A 35-year-old Maitland man crashed into a tree off Interstate 275 and died Sunday morning, authorities said.
Kevin Lee Young, of 532 Pawnee Trail, Maitland, was traveling north on I-275 about 7:30 a.m. when he lost control of his car five miles north of the Livingston Road overpass in north Hillsborough County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Young's 1998 Nissan drifted into the grass median, and when he tried to get back on the highway, his car began to spin, troopers said. Young's car spun across the northbound lanes before the driver's side hit a tree just off the east shoulder, troopers said. Young died at the scene.
