SUNRISE - Martin Brodeur became the youngest goaltender to win 400 games when Scott Niedermayer scored with 1:05 left in overtime, lifting the Devils to a 4-3 victory over the Panthers.

Turner Stevenson, Brian Gionta and former Panther Viktor Kozlov also scored for the Devils, who clinched their eighth consecutive playoff appearance with the victory.

Brodeur had 21 saves to reach the milestone after failing in two attempts. The 31-year-old accomplished the feat in fewer games than anybody. Brodeur is 400-215-105 in 12 seasons. Patrick Roy is the all-time leader with 551 wins.

"I take a lot of pride in winning hockey games," Brodeur said. "Stats are good, but wins really show the success you have. When I look at my years, I always look at wins."

Niedermayer scored the winner when he skated in and beat Roberto Luongo with a quick wrist shot over the shoulder. Stevenson tied it at 3 with 8:38 left when he poked home a loose puck lying behind Luongo in the crease.

ISLANDERS 3, CAPS 0: Rick DiPietro had 17 saves for his second straight shutout, and Alexei Yashin had a goal and assist for host New York.

DiPietro stretched his shutout streak to 136 minutes, 58 seconds, dating to Friday's 3-1 victory over Minnesota. He blanked East-leading Tampa Bay 3-0 on Sunday, and then stymied the Capitals to complete a three-game homestand sweep.

The Islanders extended their lead over Buffalo to eight points in the race for eighth in the East. New York has six games remaining, while Buffalo will play seven.

FLYERS 4, HURRICANES 2: Branko Radivojevic had a goal and assist, and Simon Gagne also scored to lead visiting Philadelphia. Carolina was eliminated from playoff contention.

Philadelphia's Sean Burke stopped 23 shots to pick up his 303rd win, moving him past Turk Broda and into 18th on the league's career list. Patrick Sharp and Marcus Ragnarsson had the other goals for Philadelphia.

BRUINS 4, SENATORS 2: Glen Murray scored his 30th of the season and added an assist, and Andrew Raycroft stopped 28 shots for host Boston.

The Bruins moved three points ahead of Toronto atop the Northeast.

Nick Boynton built the Bruins lead to 4-2 at 13:01 of the third.

PENGUINS 5, RANGERS 2: Lasse Pirjeta had two goals and an assist and Jean-Sebastien Aubin had 35 saves for visiting Pittsburgh. Milan Kraft, Rico Fata and Kostantin Koltsov also scored for the Penguins, 8-1-1 in their past 10, including three victories over the Rangers.

Jaromir Jagr and Thomas Pock, playing in his first NHL game, scored for New York which dropped its seventh straight.

BLACKHAWKS 2, AVS 2: Tyler Arnason scored Chicago's second of the third period with 1:40 left and Michael Leighton stopped 41 shots.

Trailing 2-1 Arnason tied it by picking up a loose puck in the corner, deking past Joe Sakic and beating Tommy Salo over his glove shoulder.

DUCKS 4, PREDATORS 1: Sandis Ozolinsh had a power-play goal and Petr Sykora also scored, and visiting Anaheim earned its fourth victory in five games. The defending West champion Ducks avoided being eliminated from the playoffs for at least one more game.

Ex-Lightning player Vinny Prospal added a goal and an assist, Sergei Fedorov scored an empty-netter and Steve Rucchin had a pair of assists for Anaheim, which avoided being swept in the four-game season series between the teams.

Nashville remained tied with Edmonton for seventh in the West and needed the win with only four home games left.

AVALANCHE: Center Steve Moore was released from a Denver hospital, two weeks after the on-ice attack from Vancouver's Todd Bertuzzi left him with a broken neck and a concussion. Moore is in good condition and his two neck fractures are expected to heal in the next 6-12 weeks, doctors said. It hasn't been determined if he'll be able to play again.

In other news, Peter Forsberg returned to the lineup after missing 17 games with a groin injury.

DEVILS: Defenseman Scott Stevens skated for the first time since being sidelined by postconcussion syndrome.

FLAMES: Forward Chris Simon was suspended two games without pay for kneeing Dallas defenseman Sergei Zubov in Monday's game. Simon will forfeit $36,585 of his $1.5-million salary during the suspension.

RANGERS: Defenseman Darius Kasparaitis, 31, will have surgery today to repair his right shoulder, an injury separate from the knee problem that kept him out the past two months. He's expected to be ready for training camp.
