CLEARWATER - An Oldsmar man was arrested this week on charges that he grabbed another motorist's passenger by the throat during a road rage incident in downtown Clearwater.

Francis M. Giordano, 49, was arrested on a charge of burglary with battery. He was released from the Pinellas County Jail after posting $50,000 bail. Clearwater police said Giordano became angry with another motorist who was trying to merge in the area of Cleveland Street and Myrtle Avenue about noon Tuesday. After the passenger in the other car made a hand gesture, Giordano got out of his vehicle, reached into the car and grabbed the 17-year-old male passenger's throat, arrest reports state. It left red marks on the teen's neck, police said.
