The state's Florida Turnpike Enterprise sent a letter to the creators of the Web site truthaboutsuncoast2.com saying that it was posting e-mail messages that are misleading.
The e-mails, which talk about noise walls and landscaping problems through the Cheval West neighborhood and Hillsborough County from the Suncoast Parkway, are inaccurate, wrote Nancy Clements, director of planning and production. The parkway has been a good neighbor to the communities that abut the toll road, including Cheval West, she said.
The e-mails were posted as fodder for residents to consider as state officials contemplate bringing an extension to the toll road through Citrus County.
Hahn Vu, a Citrus resident who operates the site, could not be reached for comment. In an e-mail to the Florida Turnpike Enterprise, she welcomed the agency to correct any information on her Web site.
Carl Gibilaro, Suncoast Parkway II project manager, said he's fielding many rumors about the project, and parkway officials would like residents to check with his department to see if they're true before passing them on, fueling a lot of misinformation on the controversial project.
"We're trying to stop the rumors before they get too big to make sure that the truth is out there," he said. "I know I get a lot of calls from people who have the same question. I know so and so told me this. Is this true? And for the most part, no, it's not true."
