TAMPA - A passenger at Tampa International Airport slipped through a security checkpoint Monday, prompting airport officials to shut down an airside for 11/2 hours.
Brenda Geoghagan, airport spokeswoman, said an alarm went off at 4:30 p.m. when a pregnant passenger walked through a magnetometer at Airside F, the area serving US Airways and American Airlines.
The passenger and a male traveling companion were asked to wait to get checked with hand wands, Geoghagan said.
After the man was checked, the two walked off. She was not searched.
Security cameras helped authorities find the woman at a gate. She was screened.
No charges were filed.
"It was an innocent mistake," Geoghagan said.
Geoghagan said she did not know what caused the alarm to go off.
During the delay, Airside F flights were held at gates, and passengers were not allowed to board trolleys from the terminal to gates.
