By Times Staff Writer

SAFETY HARBOR - A man was arrested Thursday morning after he pulled the fire alarm at McMullen-Booth Elementary School, claimed to be a law enforcement officer and said there was a bomb in the building. Victor V. Gregory, 32, of Clearwater was arrested on charges of falsely impersonating an officer and falsely reporting an explosive device. Just before 11 a.m., Gregory went to the school, 3025 Union St., and pulled the fire alarm.

The children were evacuated, and Pinellas sheriff's deputies were called. When deputies arrived, they talked with Gregory, who claimed he worked in law enforcement and that there was a bomb in the building, Sgt. Tim Goodman said. The children were allowed back inside, and Gregory was taken to jail, where he was being held Thursday evening in lieu of $30,000 bail.
