DUNEDIN - Sister Dolores Keller received Governor Bush's Point of Light award on Thursday for the week of April 5. Rep. Tom Anderson, R-Dunedin, nominated Keller for the award for her contributions to the community. Keller, 76, a Catholic nun, marched in Selma, Ala., with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and spent decades educating black children in Detroit schools.

She also served as an ex-officio member of the Dunedin Inclusion Task Force Committee. She has served on the city of Dunedin Committee on Aging, the Dunedin Council of Organizations and the Pinellas County Housing Authority. The Point of Light program was established in February 2000 to recognize Florida residents and organizations that have demonstrated exemplary volunteer services in their community. Keller will be honored in the fall at a reception at the Governor's Mansion.
