Want to do something a little different this weekend? Plan on attending the Highland Games in Dunedin beginning at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Highlander Park at Michigan Boulevard and Pinehurst Road in Dunedin. The games highlight the centuries-old athletic events of Scotland, including the caber toss and hammer throw, and will feature demonstrations by Daniel Phillips and his herd-trained border collies. There is also Scottish dancing, piping and drumming competitions, as well as a gathering of more than 50 Scottish clans. You can sample Scottish food and try to trace your own Scottish heritage. Konstantinos Maris, winner of the 2004 Florida Folk Heritage Award, will be recognized during a special performance of Zorba at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Tarpon Springs Performing Arts Center, 324 Pine St. Admission is $16 general, $14 for center members and students.
