LECANTO - A student was transported to Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center for a minor injury to his arm Friday afternoon after the school bus he rode in along with about 25 other students collided with a minivan at County Road 491 and Educational Path, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

Just before 4 p.m., the school bus, driven by Beannia W. Gates, 44, of Hernando, was turing left to go north on CR 491 as John E. Rohan Jr., 60, of Lecanto, drove a 1997 Ford minivan south on CR 491. The left front of the bus hit the right front of the minivan, the report said.

It was not known Friday which driver had the red light. FHP will investigate to determine which driver was at fault. The crash caused about $3,000 in damages to each vehicle.
