Countryside senior chosen to be Junior Sungoddess

ST. PETERSBURG - Samantha Brown, a senior at Countryside High School, was named Junior Sungoddess 2004 in ceremonies Tuesday night at the Palladium Theatre.

Bonni Carney, a senior at Northeast High, was first runner-up, and Stacey Grusden, a junior at Seminole High, was second runner-up.

Other members of the Junior Sungoddess Court are Laterca Bonner, Lanier Echols and Robin Medicus, Boca Ciega; Katie Mathews and Rachael Russell, Canterbury; Jessica Wheeley, Clearwater; Candace Greenough, Countryside; Amy Smith, Dixie Hollins; Kyesha Robinson, Lakewood; Nicole Beals and Stacey Cash, Northeast; Brittany Thomas, Northside Christian; Mary Kaitlin Anderson, Sara Campbell, Stephanie Taaffee and Cayla Traviesa, St. Petersburg; and Heidi Hempfling, Seminole.

Judges for the annual competition were Susan Blackburn, senior vice president United Bank; Barbara Burley, regional director WTOG-TV; Chuck Harmon, St. Petersburg chief of police; Gail Malecot, owner CC's Boutique; and Jeni Wadlow, marketing director, Tyrone Square Mall.
