In response to the March 28 article Residents group opposes dock plans, voicing Linda Chaney's views on the proposed boat dock plan at St. Pete Beach, we saw these residents in action at City Hall.
Their thinly veiled concerns of protecting the manatee soon turned into the outright admission of worry that their private water/land could actually be shared by other people.
Every issue was fully answered concerning safety, protection and environmental issues. These issues have been thoughtfully and professionally planned.
Percentages show that a lot of condos are not used year-round. (According to the bylaws, no one is allowed to use boat slips except the owners.)
These residents will all be paying their fair share of taxes, taking care of everyone's piece of paradise.
The ratio of 24 boat slips to 64 condos is much smaller than one dock to every private home. I say, let's be fair and tear down every third dock and make it the same ratio that condo owners are dealing with.
